A collaboration shaped by unrivaled Italian craft and artisanal expertise, Palm Angels’ debut capsule with Missoni sees founder and creative director Francesco Ragazzi reinterpret the Missoni archives through a sharp streetwear lens. ‘Working Palm Angels’ DNA into a historic brand like Missoni sees heritage, product and art merge,’ explains Ragazzi. Here, he shares his creative vision, his collection highlights, and the global hotspots that inspire him.

Missoni is an authentic landmark of Italian creation and artisanal know-how. And with this collaboration, we wanted to offer a different take — my own take, actually — on the Missoni heritage; a fusion of both DNAs, with an urban, relaxed feel. The merging of Palm Angels and Missoni happens naturally, but also unexpectedly. It’s a fusion of codes that follows an irreverent agenda, and moves within the exciting frame of first-class Italian [expertise]. Doing things with a certain finesse is mandatory for me, and also for Missoni.
The story behind the collection
I want this collection to express the happiness of returning to life after the pandemic. We wanted to create a new energy and a different point of view. The Palm Angels X Missoni Resort collection is the perfect attire for the summer jetsetter. The Palm Angels vacationer is always on the lookout for vibrant and unique hotspots, whether it be the Hamptons, Miami, Ibiza or Mykonos. Tracksuits and zip-up cardigans come in Missoni patterns, while on hooded sweatshirts these details may be limited to a multicolored hood string or waistband.
A new creative medium
The last collection was conceived during lockdown and the final outcome was an incredible result of teamwork. I decided to present the collection with a book — this idea came after I reflected on the moment that we all find ourselves in. I thought of a book — in a moment where everyone is virtually connected and consumed by the screens of their smartphones — as a way of showing my vision through a more tangible medium. The book represents a collection of images and overall inputs, resulting in a moodboard that honours the spirit of the collection. It’s a kind of milestone — it’s Palm Angels at this precise moment.
The future of Palm Angels
This year will be an important one for Palm Angels — there’s a great dynamism around [the industry] and there are many projects coming up in the next few months. We exist also thanks to artisans and small companies who represent the concept of craftsmanship and ‘Made in Italy’ [artistry], all over the world. I’ll continue supporting and reinforcing our supply chain. I like the idea of creating a book every season too, especially during all this digital madness [that’s come about as a result of] the pandemic.
